Dentist

On the first of November I took Zackary to the dentist for the first time!  He did great while Roxann demonstrated everything on his fingernails . . . . .

but when she tried to work in his mouth . . . it was a different story!

He finally let her polish his teeth.  It went all right for the first time but not as great as I had hoped.

The hat was Zack's contribution to his outfit!

Halloween

Mommy had the job of cleaning out the inside and Daddy made the face.  This year he asked Zackary what kind of face he wanted and he showed him (with the expression on his own face).  Then he requested round eyes and a nose.

He loved pumpkin.  We carried him from room to room with us and he even went to Inny & Pop Pop's one day.  I was glad he didn't chose a larger pumpkin!

At preschool they had a Noah's Ark Party and he dressed as a bear.

This year we went to Zoo Boo at the Detroit Zoo (unfortunately the pictures didn't turn out very good) the day before Halloween.  Then on Halloween the Cat in the Hat did some trick or treating in my parents neighborhood and really got into the whole experience this year.  Then we went to our church for Trunk or Treat.  We all had fun!

Apple Orchard & Pumpkin Patch

A couple weeks ago Zackary and I went on a field trip with his preschool class to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch.  Here are the highlights:

I made several attempts to get a good picture of him sitting on a pumpkin but he was being a little stinker!!  At least he was wearing orange!!

A Day in the Life with Zackary

I feel like I'm going to forget the things Zackary says and does, so here are a few recent things that I'd like to remember:

According to Zack "Z starts with Zackary" (instead of the other way around).

We rarely go to Buffalo Wild Wings but we went on Wednesday night and it was Family night. This means the kids meals are $1.99 (great deal) and there is a clown walking around making balloon animals. When Zackary was younger he wasn't a fan of clowns but this time it went better. The clown held up three fingers on one hand and asked Zackary if that is how old he was? He said "no", and held up two fingers on one hand and one on the other!

We have a lot of fun discussions in the car. We recently saw a very colorful sign outside a pediatrician's office that had children on it. Zackary said "the little boy has brown hair like me". Then he informed me I had "white hair". I said "isn't mama's hair brown like yours?" Very seriously he said, "No, white". I just laughed and dropped the subject!

I was so excited when we got our new vehicle because it had a little mirror so I could see my back seat passenger. But Zackary complains when I put it down and says "don't look at me"! I even tried putting it down one day before I picked him up and he noticed as soon as he got in!

Zackary always wants to be a helper. He is tall enough to turn on almost every lamp and light switch in the house. We were trying to get ready to go to Wal-Mart last night and he was going around turning on all the lights. But he also knows how to turn them off and after asking him twice, he finally did it! This was SO helpful.

We went to a dinner at camp on Saturday night and one of Zackary's preschool teachers and her husband were also there.  She was so excited to tell me that in class on Thursday her and a few children were sitting the table doing a project.  Apparently Zackary needed some attention because she heard him say "hello".   Even though we were a bit embarrassed she was laughing and assured me it was okay!

And one of my favorites is "I smell something in my nose"!

First Day of Preschool

Zackary is going to preschool two mornings a week.  I went with him this past Thursday since the first day was informal for the children to get comfortable and the parents were able to stay.  He did great and is really excited about school.  I hope he still feels that way on Tuesday morning!

Note:  It was trash day in our neighborhood which also includes a visit from the Street Sweeper.  Zackary is fascinated by the Street Sweeper lately, so this just made his day.  Between trash cans, the sun, the Street Sweeper and a little boy who can't stand still . . . I was pleased to get any decent pictures!

Vacation

We went to Florida on vacation for nine days and we had a great time.  We stayed at hotel on Cocoa Beach for the first three nights and relaxed on the beach.

We spent an afternoon at Downtown Disney and then went to visit Grandma Joyce, Aunt Arlene & Uncle Perc.

We enjoyed the Florida Aquarium and the pool.

Three Years Old

Sometimes I can't believe that this sweet little boy has been a part of our life for over three years now.  I've probably said this at every stage but I really believe this is my favorite so far.  He is so smart, funny and strong willed which makes for cute conversations, a lot of laughs and enough challenge to help me remember he has a mind of his own!  Today I picked him up early from my parents for his three year wellness check with the pediatrician.  On the way he said "I had a good day", so of course I asked what made it so good, he said "Inny and Pop-Pop".  I feel truly blessed that he gets to spend his days with people that love him so much.

He is 38.6 lbs. and 39 3/4 inches tall.  He has his blood pressure taken for the first time today (it was 96/62), which the nurse told him would be a hug on his arm!  He was asked to wear a little gown, which he asked to have taken off after a short time because it was bugging him.  We had a medical student come in first and he asked a lot of questions.  He asked what his name was and he said "Zackary LaRue", which surprised me because usually when I try to get him to say his last name he says "no, just Zackary".  During the exam he "tooted" when the student was checking his belly and the student was caught off guard a bit and stepped backwards and Zackary laughed and said "I scared you"!  The doctor simply said "little boys"!!

I have so many pictures to share and things to talk about that I'll get to eventually but we are having a great summer!  The other big news of the week is that Zackary is working on potty training and he is doing an awesome job!

He loves to ride his tricycle.

Family Reunion

Last weekend Zackary and I went to Pennsylvania for a long weekend.  We had a great time staying with Auntie, Uncle Brian & Daisy Mae (the cat).  Zackary often includes Daisy Mae in our nightly prayers, so I thought she should be mentioned here as well.

On Saturday evening we celebrated Garrett and Karly's birthday's with Aunt Marty and Uncle Lem's family.  Auntie took Zackary swimming and he had a great time.

Then on Sunday we went to the Warner Family Reunion.

My cousin's daughter, Ariel, is only a couple months younger than Zackary.  They played well together in this little area on the playground that looked like a mini booth with a roof.  They both loved the wood chips and Aunt Helen played with them most of the time they were in there.
The only complaint was from Zackary when he said "the baby won't listen to me", which made us all laugh since she is so close his age!

He loved the pinata . . .

the cake ice cream cones . . .

and his mommy!!!

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend.  We started off Friday by going to a Marshmallow Drop.  Of course this was one of my brilliant ideas that now I can say we've done and probably won't do again!  It was as organized as it can be when there are approximately 10,000 people involved and I'm not kidding.  I just searched for a newspaper article about the event and  this is the amount of people that they belive were there, it was crazy.  Once you got a marshmallow, you turned it in for a prize which consisted of a couple pieces of candy, a mini camera and a little ball.  It was a beautiful day and we got exercise walking to and from our car!
In the afternoon, we dyed eggs.

Then on Saturday we went to two birthday parties.  One for our friend Brady who turned 3 and one for Paul's grandma who turned 88!

Sunday morning Zackary woke up to his Easter basket and then we went to church.  After Zackary had a much needed afternoon nap, we had an Easter egg hunt and dinner at the Crosby's.
