Wonderful Water

For the past month or so, Zackary has had a real fascination with water. Today I decided to put the step stool up to the washer and have him help me put the laundry in. He would put them in one by one, I did ask him to not put them all in the same place, but otherwise he was very helpful.
Just before these pictures were taken, I had changed a very messy diaper (which actually ended up on his pants which hasn't happened in a long time) so we were on our way to get another outfit and I decided to throw in a Zackary load. I must add that I had been out today shopping & getting my haircut for over 3 hours. I wasn't in the door 5 minutes and Zackary decided to poop, I guess he was waiting on me!

As the water got higher he could reach it and enjoyed playing with the bubbles from the soap.

I think he would sit and fill the cup with water, dump it and start over again for hours if we would let him. I realize it is wasteful but we do limit this activity.

What happened to our baby?

Zackary had a haircut today and now he looks so grown up!
Pop-Pop agreed to take Zackary for a haircut this week. He was a big boy and sat on the chair all by himself.

The Last Month

I'm sure some of you are wondering why I haven't updated the blog much lately, I just haven't been taking many pictures for some reason. Part of it could be that Zackary is much more difficult to photograph now that he is always on the move and I end up deleting more than I save sometimes. Also, he needs to "see" each one on the camera screen after I take them. But I think the biggest reason is that he isn't changing as much physically as he is developmentally. Here are a few random thoughts about our busy 20 month old.

  • He loves playing in the water. He likes to sit on the kitchen (or bathroom) counter and fill a cup with water and pour it in the sink. This also applies to bath time but he is VERY disappointed when you turn the water off.

  • He has a fascination with school buses. He see them on the road, he has several to play with, he even has a remote control bus at Grammy & Pop-Pop's. It makes his day when he sees a bus.

  • His vocabulary seems to be increasing on a daily basis. He's a funny little guy in this way. He'll learn a new word, say it once and then it is almost impossible to get him to say it again for awhile. He understands very well, so he has no trouble communicating.

  • He loves playing with his little cars and trucks. Last weekend we lined 9 cars on the top of the love seat and then he would go behind the sofa and push them all over the edge. Then he would say "up" and we'd start all over again. I should have kept track of how many times we did this in two days, it had to be at least 20!

  • Earlier this week Zackary & Paul were in the basement (our family room) waiting on dinner to be ready. Zackary wanted to join me upstairs, so Paul followed him up. As he approached the top of the stairs, he said "eat". This is one word he has continued to use over and over again this week. At least he is recognizing when he is hungry and communicating it!

  • Zackary said goodbye to his nighttime bottle this week. I really think it was more traumatic for me than for him (I anticipated it being much more difficult than it really was). The transition went very smooth, with the help of some cool new sippy cups with straws!!

  • The one thing that wasn't too much fun lately, is that Zackary was diagnosed with Buccal Cellulitis a week ago yesterday. His right cheek was swollen and continued to get worse as the day went on. So we went to the doctor and came home with an antibiotic. It was an infection in the cells of his cheek and could have been serious, if he didn't respond to the antibiotics. Luckily he responded and by Sunday the swelling was going down. Here is a picture we took a week ago:
