Zackary seems to need to multi-task all the time. He's been this way for most of his life. He got to a point when he was about 6 months old that he couldn't just lay there and take a bottle -- he would need something (or many things) to play with and entertain him. This transitioned to his high chair when he started eating table food. I know this is breaking some kind of "good parenting" rules but it was necessary to ensure that the child received the proper nutrition. Tonight for example, he decided he would hold his bottle and I could read a book. Normally I still hold his bottle, even though he knows how, and I'm not looking forward to giving up "ba" even though I know it needs to happen soon. He's such a busy boy and I look forward to our "quiet" time each night before bed.
One of his favorite meal time activities is looking through magazines. He especially enjoys the ones that include toys and he points out all the balls!
